How to calculate work hours
Hours worked = (clock-out − clock-in) − break. Example: in at 08:00, out at 17:00, 1-hour lunch from 12:00 to 13:00. That's 9 hours from in to out, minus a 1-hour break: 8 hours worked.
For decimal hours (payroll or billing), divide minutes by 60: 8:15 = 8.25 h; 7:20 = 7.33 h. For pay, multiply decimal hours by your rate: 7:20 (7.33 h) × $30 = $220.00.
Balance compares what you worked with the daily hours you entered for each filled day. A positive balance might mean overtime or comp time. How your employer treats it depends on your contract and local law.
Overtime and breaks
Daily limits, break rules and overtime pay differ by country, state and employer. This tool only adds up the hours you enter. It doesn't apply legal rules or premiums. Check your contract and local rules before using the balance for pay decisions.
